Fiction

Speculative fiction that uses aliens, psychic powers, and more to explore themes of memory, alienation, trauma, freedom, and family, to entertain and enthrall.

PUBLIC APPEARANCES

I speak about social issues or about my work at conventions, panels, rallies, vigils, protests, and other public events.

Technical and Science Writing

Whether writing product assembly manuals for manufacturing companies, instructional resources for university biology courses, or blog posts about molecular biology for scientific equipment giants, I can produce documents on technical topics with speed, skill, and precision. I'm a biology Ph.D. with scientific publishing experience and years of well-honed expertise in science and technical writing, and I can work for you.

Sample Portfolio Items

Product assembly manuals and similar other work are proprietary and not for public consumption, but references are available on request.

Social Issues

I write about LGBTQ+ and especially transgender issues, Hispanic issues, autistic issues, immigrant issues, atheist issues, and more. My writing has been published in Playboy, Femme Feminism, The Humanist, Greatist, GOMag, and more. I use my experiences as a member of all of these groups to inform my work.

Fiction

I explore themes of LGBTQ experience, grief, memory, abuse, trauma, and more in speculative fiction. By writing these stories in a science-fiction or fantasy setting, they become deeper and grander than they could otherwise have been. My work is published in short story anthologies.

PORTFOLIO

More of my fiction, including humorous pieces and alternate versions of some of my published stories, is available at my personal blog, The Perfumed Void.

Public Appearances

I make many appearances as a panel member or keynote speaker for conventions, protests, vigils, and other public events. My experience as a writer, teacher, and member of many marginalized groups equips me to speak to many different audiences in many different contexts. I can make sure your event is memorable and informative.
